Beast was written by Bill DePhillips and Tony Griffith. It was directed by Bill DePhillips. It stars Will Matthews, Tony Griffith, Bob DePhillips, Willy Delair, Matt Carosi, Bill DePhillips, Harry Hilbert, and Mike DePhillips. It was produced by Bill DePhillips and Tony Griffith. Beast is actually a sequel to a movie called "The Beast" we made in 1996. The team liked the project and we decided to make a longer and better version of it. So the script was written and props were gathered. The actually filming took place over the entire month of August in 1997 during several filming sessions.
The Story
After a U.S. Army unit is wiped out in a mysterious animal attack, Agent John Harper (Bill DePhillips) assembles a rescue team led by Lt. Tony Braudus (Tony Griffith) to go in and save two camps nearby the attack site. Harper realizes that the soldiers had been killed by a creature he heard about once before from Fred Smith (Will Matthews). Fred was the sole survivor of a hunting expedition to the region, the other two members of his party having been killed by the creatures. Harper asks Fred to go along with the rescue team, to provide first hand intelligence about the creatures. Fred initially refuses, but the incident brings back painful memories from his original trip and he agrees to go, hoping to conquer his demons. The team is airlifted in and heads towards the camps. However, they find both camps deserted and trashed. They are too late. As they set up camp to wait for a chopper ride home, the team is attacked. Now they are on the run with no food, no water, and no way out.
